Uzodimma Bags NCSU Excellence Award Over Workers Welfare

By Iheanyi Enwerem
Following the resolve by the 3R shared prosperity administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma on assumption of office in 2021 to reposition the Civil Service in the State for effective performance, the Nigeria Civil Service Union have dimmed it fit to bestow an award of Excellence on the Governor for keeping to his promise and executing some of the policies.
Presenting the award on Uzodimma who was represented by the Deputy Governor Prof Placid Njoku, at  the 6th quadrennial delegates conference held at the Union State Secretariat last Thursday, the Imo State Chairman Comrade Uche Nwaigwe said that the Governor lifted embargo on promotion for workers in the State after over 10years of stagnation and neglect by past administrations, stressing that this is one of the numerous reasons the Union is honouring Uzodimma.
While reading out the achievements the Union made under his leadership as Chairman which includes securing the Union  Secretariat, Nwaigwe used the occasion to appeal to State Government to rectify issues of non-payment of salaries and pensions to genuine workers who were not captured in the  automated system introduced by the administration to capture data of workers in the State.
Deputy Governor Prof. Njoku while addressing the Union thanked them for honouring Governor Uzodimma as he described Civil servants as engineer room of every administration, stressing that Uzodimma restored the system of promotion which was non-existent since 2014 and that is because the administration cares for welfare of workers in the State.
He confirmed the order for  release of promotion of workers by Gov. Uzodimma which he(Njoku) said was since November 23, 2022, also stated the Health Insurance programme policy for workers that  will be flagged off by the State government.
Head of Service, Raymond Ucheoma said that Uzodimma brought back payment of 13th month salaries, promotion of workers and deserve the support of Civil servants in the State.
Other dignitaries at the event include Commissioner for Information Declan Emelumba, SA on Labour Matters Austin Chilakpo, while highlight was presentation of award to awardees.
