Ebonyi Govt Orders Closure Of illegal Motor Parks In Abakali

From Kelechi Okoro
Ebonyi State Government says she has plans to close all illegal motor parks operating in the state capital, Abakaliki  and her environ.
Government announced the plan, after a joint meeting of the Commissioner for Capital City and Urban Development,  Sunday Elechi Inyima, with the Commissioners for  Parks and Market Development, Transport, and Environment, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transport.
Inyima disclosed the plan to journalists and said that the idea was to ensure sanity on public ways, in the capital city, by properly regulating the activities of transport operators.
He announced the following motor parks – Eze Igboke Ewa Central Park (that is opposite international market), Chris Nwankwo Park (that is former Ishieke park), Akanu Ibiam Park (that is building materials park) and EBOtrans terminal, as government approved motor parks in the state capital and stressed that any other one outside the four, any other place within the urban, was illegal and therefore closed, stressing his office would provide further details on the enforcement exercise. ” We have agreed that all illegal parks within the capital city will be shut. From Monday, announcement will go out through the media to inform the public about government-approved parks, and any other loading points outside those approved will not be tolerated, ” the Commissioner stressed explaining that bus shelters were only designed as waiting points for commuters and not as loading bays.
