THE GLOBAL IMSU GRADUATES ALUMNI ELECTS NEW OFFICERS

On Tuesday 22nd April, 2025, history was made in the beautiful city of Owerri, the Imo State capital as Dr. Anayo Uhiara  was given the Executive mandate to pilot the affairs of the Global Imo State University Graduates Alumni for another term of two years.
This event, which was witnessed by a massive turnout of Imo Stars from across the Nation and the Diaspora, is significant as it is conclusive proof of the GIMSUGA’s viability and relevance to sustain efforts in advancing the interests of the Imo State University, Owerri as it has done since its founding about two years ago.
It will interest you to know that the Global Imo State University Graduates Alumni GIMSUGA, in a very short period of time, have positioned itself as a critical development partner of the University with tangible and verifiable engagements targeted at the uplift of the Imo State University, Owerri.
It is to the credit of this forward- minded group of past students,  that fifty units of solar powered street lights were donated and installed inside the University through an ingenious programme tagged the “Light Up IMSU” project.
GIMSUGA was first and only responders when the accreditation team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) came calling with the handsome donation of twenty units each of the Hewlett Packard brand of Laptop computers and printers. This singular gesture had far reaching implications as it helped the University maintain a positive posture before the accreditation team from the NUC.
It is also noteworthy that during the first tenure of the Anayo Uhiara led Global Executive Council of the Global Imo State University Graduates Alumni, the Anambra/Imo River Basin Authority were contacted by the Global President to intervene in the University by reactivating the water reticulation systems on campus which will make water available for use in the students halls of residence, general lavatories  and Staff offices on campus.
It is most heartwarming to know that this request has been granted by the Authority and work will commence in earnest.
The last two years of the Uhiara led administration presented the opportunity for GIMSUGA to commit to the cleanliness of the University through the donation of lawn mowers and grass cutting implements to the University. The Global President, Dr. Anayo Uhiara personally led in a clean up exercise conducted prior to the handing over of the equipment to the University Management.
Finally, the Global Imo State University Graduates Alumni GIMSUGA accepted the challenge to recover, renovate and re-donate some lavatory assets in the University. It is on record that students now have access to functional toilets on campus courtesy of the Anayo Uhiara led Global Imo State University Graduates Alumni GIMSUGA.
The election of Dr Anayo Uhiara has been hailed many as a positive sign of better things to come as he is expected to continue with programmes and projects that will advance the welfare of members and support the growth of the University.
To work with him for the next two years are:
1. Amb. HRH. Temple Nwankwo,  Vice Chairman.
2. Amb (Dr) Uzoma Asuquo, Secretary.
3. Amb. Jane Chidimma Ndubuisi, Financial Secretary.
4. Amb (Dr) Janerita Peters, Treasurer.
5. Amb. Fidelis Anokam  Kamalu,  Social Secretary.
6. Linda Anthonia Ezeribe, Welfare Director.
7. Amb (Chief) Chidiebere Obasi, Provost
8. Amb (Nze) Nathan Anaele OTUNBA, Publicity Secretary, Head Public Relations Directorate.
The signs are optimistic as the newly elected leadership has been charged to ensure the promotion of an Alumni Spirit anchored on a deep sense of Relationship which is the needed incentive to drive contributory development of our Alma Mater, the Imo State University, Owerri.
Long live GIMSUGA.
Long live the Imo State University.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Amb (Nze) Nathan Anaele OTUNBA.
