Nonso Nkwa  Not a Journalist –Imo NUJ clears air

By Anyi  Lemchi
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council has dissociated itself from the false membership claims of one Mr Chinonso Uba, popularly known as Nonso Nkwa for parading himself as a journalist.
Imo NUJ in a press release issued and signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma and Council Secretary Comrade Treasure Ihechi-Nwamah condemned in totality the trend and act of individuals claiming to be Journalists in disguise to cause chaos in society.
The press release added that Mr Chinonso Uba among other imposters, through their actions and inactions have greatly incited controversy and chaos in the state, hence “warned that any act from person or persons which undermines the integrity or put
the good image of Imo NUJ to disrepute or done on the disguise of being a registered journalist or bonafide members of Imo NUJ will henceforth be legally prosecuted”
“It has come to the attention of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council of the
activities of some persons who parade themselves as journalists and by extension, Imo NUJ
members.
“We have noticed that the activities of these impostors are to say the least, inciting and in no small measure, have directly and indirectly aided the promotion of insecurity in our state, Imo.
“Among these said persons is one Mr. Chinonso Uba, also known as Nonso Nkwa, who we have on our record is not a journalist by training; hence not a member of Imo NUJ.
“Therefore, we want to use this medium to once again, disassociate the leadership and the entire members of Imo NUJ from the activities of the said Nonso Nkwa.
“We also wish to state that Nonso Nkwa should be held responsible for his actions and inactions;
and such should not be linked to Imo NUJ or journalists in the state furthermore.
“The recent attack on NOUN and JAMB office at Ehime Mbano LGA is an instance and for such to be linked to somebody masquerading himself as journalist cum a member of Imo NUJ is most
unfortunate and unacceptable to us.
“Imo NUJ condemned in its entirety of inciting the youths against the Imo Government, security agencies and Imo citizens at large.
“This notice is for the benefit of the General public and for whom it may concern”, Imo NUJ reiterated.
