The Imo State health sector, in a drive and commitment to improve healthcare outcomes, the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr (Mrs.) Chioma Egu has launched a 5-day workshop with Sector-Wide Approach Initiative (SWAP) and other health stakeholders from within and outside the country to finalize and harmonize the 2026 Annual Operational Plan (AOP).
The honourable commissioner, while flagging off the workshop in Owerri this Tuesday, has assured Imo residents of an effective alignment with key stakeholders that will gear towards tackling health challenges in the state.
She further emphasized the importance and dividends of proper AOP, in her words “…for you to achieve and reach the goal of the health sector, you have to sit down to plan ahead of time. Dr. (Mrs.) Egu promised transparency in the use of resources, stating that every investment in health will be funnelled towards a goal, which she tagged as building an improved healthcare system that guarantees access to an equitable, quality and affordable healthcare for all.
The commissioner expressed gratitude to Senator Hope Uzodinma for his  supports and contribution towards the Imo health sector, described the governor as one who cares about the people’s well-being; also thanked World health organization (WHO), Sector-wide approach (SWAP) amongst other stakeholders.
She further urged all participants to participate actively during the five days of deliberation, charged that all hands be to achieve the maximum goal and objective of the 2026 AOP.
