Ezinihitte Progressives to Religious Leaders:  Enthrone Discipline in Politics, Reject Money Politics Ahead of 2027 …Urges Church to stand for equity in Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Rep Seat

The group said only politicians who have earned the trust of the people deserve support, warning that politics without trust and character has nothing to offer the constituency.

Speaking with our correspondent via telephone, the Convener of Ezinihitte Progressives, Comrade AIC Akwarandu, decried what he described as a pattern of greed, selfishness and political indiscipline where equity is jettisoned because of money and influence.

According to him, “When two brothers share one thing in common, it becomes an act of greed and indiscipline for one to take everything simply because he feels he has money. That is not leadership, that is domination.”

Akwarandu called on the Church to rise beyond money politics and become the conscience of the society by holding politicians accountable to their words and to the principles of fairness.

He disclosed that the group will embark on consultations across churches and Christian stakeholders in Ezinihitte and Ahiazu, sensitizing the faithful on the need for equity and rotation.

“The progressives will move from church to church, engaging Christian leaders and stakeholders to ensure that only candidates from Ahiazu Local Government are supported in 2027 for the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Federal House of Representatives seat. This is about justice, balance and keeping faith with our collective agreement,” he said.

Akwarandu added that the campaign for equity is not targeted at any individual but aimed at strengthening trust between politicians and the people, insisting that politicians who break agreements and take the masses for granted should not be rewarded.

He revealed that messages have already been sent to key religious leaders in the constituency, stressing that the group will not relent until equity, fairness and discipline are fully enthroned in Ahiazu/Ezinihitte politics.

“The Church must stand for equity. If we get it right in 2027, we will restore trust in our politics,” he concluded.
