Enhance Your Capacity For Data Driven Decision making -Dr. Egu charges Imo Health Staff

The Hon. Commissioner for Health, Dr Chioma Vivian Egu has changed staff of the Ministry on the need to enhance their capacities to steer up a data driven decision making in the state.
Dr. Egu gave the charge at the opening ceremony of National Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative’s Leadership, Health Systems Strengthening, and Planning, Workshop held Owerri.
The Hon Commissioner while stating that workshop marks another milestone in our collective journey towards transforming the health system of Imo State and Nigeria at large, pointed out that strengthening the State’s health system requires deliberate investments not only in infrastructure and equipment but also in the capacity of the people who drive these systems our leaders, managers, and frontline implementers.
She called on participants to actively engage themselves in the various sections in other to   be equip with practical problem-solving and bottleneck analysis tools which further enhance  their capacities and competence to develop robust, realistic Annual Operational Plans (AOPs) using the newly introduced web-based AOP tool.
Expressing the delight of the Governor, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodimma on the presence of the Ministry of Health in the State,  Dr. Egu further stated that the workshop propel policy making from the grassroots to the Federal level.
The Director of Planning Research and Statistics in the Ministry, Mrs. Opara Ihunna Victoria in her welcome address emphasized that the workshop is not just another training, but a platform the participants as leaders and managers in the health sector to transform challenges into opportunities for improved service delivery.
She further stated that the aim of the workshop is on concepts but practical tools to address the realities faced daily in the States health sector.
Speaking on behalf of other facilitators from the  Federal Ministry of Health,  Dr. Omoruyi of the National SWAP Office, pointed out that the 2026 Annual Operational Plan is different from the previous AOPs as it is a Web-based AOP.
He called the participants to actively engage themselves in the training in other to produce an outstanding AOP for the State.
In their separate goodwill messages, representatives of the WHO, Corona Management Systems, HSDF stated that their resolve to continue partnering with the State to improve service delivery in the State health sector.
The workshop was also attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Kennedy Adinnu, the Executive Secretary of the Imo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Ms. Kosilisochukwu Ekeh-Njoku and Directors of both the Ministry and it’s Agencies.
