CIBN HONOURS DR DORIS ANITE

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) Imo State Branch has honoured Dr Doris Nkiruka Uzoka Anite, Honorable Commissioner for Finance and Coordinating Economy, Imo State, at its just concluded Annual CIBN Dinner and Awards Night held in Owerri.
The annual banker’s dinner and award are traditional to the CIBN and is a time when bankers and members of the institute gather in an atmosphere of relaxation, good music, and fine cuisine to take stock of the activities in the year. The Imo state branch of the CIBN has not held this dinner in the last two years in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s event is part of the 2022 Bankers Week which began with a football tournament amongst banks in Owerri with Zenith Bank Plc emerging winners.
The theme for this year’s Annual Dinner & Awards is “Building Resilience for Economic Growth in a Challenged Economy: The Agricultural Finance Option” which has been carefully chosen as a topic for reflection as the country tackles the challenges of economic development and finding solutions to the myriads of problems of governance.
In his words, the Chairman of the Imo State Chapter of CIBN Mr Rogers Augustune I. Nwoke, says “today, we are honouring very eminent personalities and citizens of Imo State who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers. Imo State has produced some of the best brains in banking, industry, academia and government. As the citations speak for themselves, we  are proud to associate with these eminent awardees”
In her response, Dr Doris Nkiruka Uzoka Anite expressed her appreciation for the recognition by the CIBN, saying “it is heartwarming to be noticed and honoured by your peers”.
She is a medical doctor and a CFA Charter holder by training. With a banking career that spans Human Resources and Treasury, she amassed significant experience in Financial Markets as she oversaw the Fixed Income and Currency Trading Desks, Asset and Liability Management, Treasury Corporate Sales, and Financial Multilateral institutions. In 2021, she was appointed the Commissioner for Finance and Co-ordinating Economy in Imo State.
Other awardees at the event are Mr Linus Okafor, Accountant General, Imo State, Mr Innocent Ike, Former MD, Polaris Bank Mr Stanley Amuchie, ED, Fidelity Bank, Mr Raymond Ahumide, Regional Director, UBA and Mr Charles Chigozie Oguibe, Group Head Retail banking Division, Access Bank, PLC
The Chairman of the CIBN Imo Chapter used the medium of the occasion to inform the Imo State Government about the pending issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy for the CIBN Eastern Zonal secretariat.
