World Children’s Day:  Dr Aniekanabasi Alban Call For Urgent Action on Child insecurity, Hunger, Abuse 

In his Children’s Day address to children of Norsemen worldwide, Nigerian children, and children across the globe, Amb. Alban described children as “the greatest gift to humanity” and warned that society is failing in its moral responsibility whenever a child is left unprotected, abused, hungry, or abandoned.

Speaking with deep concern over the rising cases of insecurity affecting children, he lamented the growing trend of kidnappings, sexual molestation, child trafficking, violence, abuse, and neglect across many parts of the world, especially in developing societies.

According to him, no nation can claim progress while its children live in fear.

“It is heartbreaking that in today’s world, many children cannot sleep peacefully because of insecurity. Children are being kidnapped, sexually molested, trafficked, abused, traumatized, and exposed to unimaginable cruelty. This is unacceptable,” he stated.

Amb. Alban stressed that governments at all levels must rise beyond political speeches and take deliberate actions to protect children from predators, violence, exploitation, and every form of abuse threatening their innocence and future.

He called for stronger child protection laws, effective law enforcement, safer communities, better educational systems, and stricter punishment for offenders who prey on vulnerable children.

“A society that cannot protect its children has already failed its future,” he declared.

The respected leader also drew attention to the alarming rate of child hunger and poverty, describing it as one of the greatest tragedies of modern society. He expressed sadness that millions of children around the world still go to bed hungry despite the abundance of resources available globally.

“No child should go to bed hungry. No child should cry from starvation while leaders live in excess. Hunger steals dreams, weakens hope, destroys health, and robs children of the opportunity to become the best versions of themselves,” he said.

He urged governments, humanitarian organizations, religious bodies, and privileged individuals to make child welfare a top priority by investing in nutrition programs, education, healthcare, shelter, and economic policies that directly improve the lives of vulnerable families and children.

According to Amb. Alban, feeding and protecting children is not charity but a moral obligation owed to humanity itself.

He further encouraged children facing difficult circumstances not to lose hope, assuring them that their present struggles do not define their future.

“To every child suffering pain, fear, rejection, hunger, or hardship today, never lose faith. Your story is not over. Greatness can rise from difficult places, and your tomorrow can still be brighter than your today,” he said.

Addressing the children of the Norsemen brotherhood specifically, he charged them to grow with values of honor, discipline, integrity, wisdom, and compassion, while becoming positive examples in society.

He concluded by reaffirming his belief that children remain the greatest hope for a better world and called on all leaders and citizens to collectively defend, nurture, and invest in the next generation.

“Children are not just the future; they are the heartbeat of humanity. If we fail them, we fail the world itself. Every child deserves safety. Every child deserves education. Every child deserves love. Every child deserves food. Every child deserves hope,” he declared.
