Imo Govt Acquired Okuku, Amatta Lands Through Due Process  – Atulegwu

By Anyi Lemchi
Hon Noble Abiaso Atulegwu, the
Commissioner  For lands, Survey and physical Planing, Imo State has maintained that his Ministry followed due process while acquiring Lands at Amatta and Okuku Communities in Ikeduru and Owerri West Local Government Areas respectively.
Atulegwu who made the clarification during a media interaction with Journalists in his office, at the State Secretariat last week, pointed out that illegal acquisition of people’s lands is  now a thing of the past since the assumption of Shared Prosperity Government in the state.
According to the Lands Commissioner,  his ministry followed all the due process including the payment of an agreed sum, in places where it had interest.
He also informed Imo people that  illegal acquisition of lands and the forging of land documents are now a thing of the past in the state.
Commissioner Atulegwu said since he took over the affairs of the ministry, its internally generated revenue has leapfrogged from 15 – 18million naira to over 100million naira monthly, without funds realized from the sale of allocations forms.
He also promised to follow due process towards allocating lands to Imo people who have purchased forms for land acquisition.
He seized the opportunity to commend Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for his efforts towards ensuring the development of adjoining cities within the Owerri Capital Territory.
While stating that no cheap blackmail will deter him from doing his job, Commissioner Atulegwu promised to continue to apply human face in the discharge of his official assignment.
According to him,  “The youths don’t own lands, we passed through the required channels for the lands acquisition.
I have gone to Amatta two times as part of the process of land acquisition, we have paid the required money through their Traditional Ruler.”
“I will not allow anything to tarnish the image of our Government. We must do govt work , no cheap blackmail will stop me .We must give the work human face, I have maintained that before you buy any land, come to Ministry of lands and verify it “.
“Nobody will stop me from doing the right thing. We followed Due process in all things we are doing. We deal with land owners not associations. I can’t never betray Imo people on lands matter because good name is better than gold and silver.”
