Rotary Clubs Rekindle Hope On Helpless Kids … built, Commissioned Orphanage Home at Umuoba Uratta

The Hope of helpless and homeless children in Imo State has been rekindled as Rotary Club of Hendon (District 1130 London) in partnership with Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown (District 9142) selflessly built and commissioned an Orphanage Home, Mary- Franca Orphanage Home, Umuoba, Uratta, Owerri North Local Government Area.
The Orphanage Home which was officially commissioned on Monday (8th April 2024), is completely structured as borehole, fencing, gate, generator, among other equipments, are being put in place to make the Home more habitable for the kids and their guardians.
The ribbon was caught by Rtn. Kelechi Anyanwu, District Governor Nominee, Rotary International District 9142, who expressed joy over the enormous feat achieved by the Rotary Clubs, saying Rotary Club is known to offer selfless services to humanity to affect lives of the less- privileged positively. “We are not charity outfits. Rotary Club is not profit driven. We focus on identifying needs of the people and meeting them according to the weight of our pocket”.
Also, unveiling the plaque of the house, Rtn. Charlin Duru, Assistant District Governor, Rotary Club of Hendon, London, stated that she was full of joy over the building, a feat she described as awesome, reflecting that she was touched and motivated to initiate the project after seeing a video of a shattered orphanage home where she met the Proprietress, Lady Francisca Mary Chukwudire, who said she has land at Umuoba Uratta where she could move the home, met her club and others, they started, completed and equipped the house to the glory of God and joy to mankind.
“We love helping the society. We go inside the community to render selfless service to humanity. I thank the partner, Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown, Hendon Club London and other individuals for their support to the success of the house”, Duru said.
In his remarks earlier, President of Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown, Rtn. Cajethan Osuagwu, said, the Orphanage Home built by Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown and Rotary Club of Hendon London, is well built so that the children will live there comfortably and safely and become more useful to themselves and the society.
“Mary-Franca Foundation has a lot of homeless kids, hence the erection of the house. Rotary Club is known to render quality selfless service to humanity; gives home and water to those who have none. We will always give financial assistance to the Orphanage Homes to ensure that the kids are okay and growing well”, Osuagwu reiterated.
Osuagwu hinted that Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown under his leadership has achieved a lot of goodies for humanity across Imo State, saying the club is always committed and prepared to render more adequate services to the people to positively affect their living.
“We built a new library to a certain school in Owerri, done health outreach in Uratta and Ekwe, Isu LGA where more than 3000 people benefitted, done vocational project to a primary school at Umunoha community where students are taught to be useful, done water project in Ikeduru and Mbaitolu (Ogwa) and quite a lot of others. In fact, we did more than 10 projects and we are going to do more. We are known for social service”, Osuagwu maintained.
While thanking members of Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown, Rotary Club of Hendon, London, Rotary International District, Lady Mary Chukwudire Foundation and Dozie Umuoba Community Association for their amazing support, Osuagwu thanked God for strengthening the Rotary Clubs to complete the project.
Highlight of the event was planting of economic trees at the Orphanage Home. People from across Imo State graced the event as Rev. Fr. Ignatius Opara prayed to God to bless, replenish the initiators of the project, as well as protect and fortify those who are going to live there.
