Ibo Jews Celebrate Arrival of Sefertorah From Israel.

    Multitude of Ibo Jews under the umbrella of Association of Jewish Faith Incorporated, last Tuesday, converged at the association’s headquarters along the Ama-Wire road, close to the Glass House in Orji area of  Owerri North local government area of Imo state to celebrate the historic arrival of SEFERTORAH, a physical representation  of God’s covenant with the Jews.

   The atmosphere at the popular Ama-Wire venue of the event automatically assumed a festive mood, following the appearance of this sacred object midway into the service . As is characteristic of Jews all over the  world, the worshippers had  rolled out drums and other powerful musical instruments to render worship songs, music and dance unto God.

The head( Rosh) and president of the Association of Jewish Faith Incorporated, Hagadol Ephrayim S . Uba who  was overwhelmed with joy as he spoke in the midst of the celebration defined the Sefertorah as a symbol of God’s presence.

According to Hagadol Uba, the Sefertorah is alternate Ark of the Covenant, a symbol of God’s covenant with the Jews, his chosen race.

 Ephrayim Uba disclosed that the presence of Sefertorah ushers in   freedom from darkness, salvation, deliverance, healing and protection of the land, enhanced fertility and genuine success .

He recalled that the Ark of the Covenant disappeared following the collapse of the walls of Jerusalem, the spiritual headquarters of the Jews. He further, explained thus, ” the  Sefertorah is the sole of the original Ark of the Covenant  as it is the major sacred component of the Ark. Let it be known that the Sefertorah is not a personal property. The blessings radiating from Sefertorah are immeasurable and, it brings curse if wrongly applied. Today, we are holding Torah service, the first of it’s kind in this part of the world. This is why we are jubilating. The Sefertorah is handled with care and heart of purity as it signifies the presence of HaShem( Amighty God) in the midst of his people”. The Torah service also featured special group and individual  prayers and supplications before the Sefertorah, celebration of Kiddush, food and drinks.
