By Ifeanyi Nwanguma, from Jordan

The first batch of Three hundred Imo state indigenes for the 2023 Pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan have arrived Queen  Jordan peacefully through Queen Alia International airport.
The pilgrims who were overwhelmed with the perfect arrangements done by Imo state Government expressed profound gratitude to Governor Hope Uzodimma for taking the pains to sponsor one Thousand Imolites for this year’s pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan.
The Chaplin of Imo state Government House , Rev Fr Gibbert Alaribe while addressing Imo Media Crew shortly after arrival, commended the members of Batch A for the  high  civility they exhibited during the journey to Jordan and charged them to always remember that they are Imo state ambassadors at the Holy land.
Rev Fr Gibbert Alaribe however used the opportunity to commend Governor Hope Uzodimma for his fatherly care by sponsoring one thousand Imolites fully to Israel and Jordan for this year’s pilgrimage, pointing out that there be Batch B, C and D subsequently.
However  the weather in Jordan is abit cold though Imo state Pilgrims came prepared with their winter jackets and head warmers.
Furthermore, from the travel schedules released by HAJJAT Tours and Travel, the three hundred imo state Pilgrims will spend three days in Jordan before departing through Allenby Bridge to Israel.
During their stay in Jordan, they are expected to visit some holy sites in Jordan which include a drive to Gedara and Jacob River.  Gedara which was one of the most brilliant ancient Greco Roman cities of the Decapolis and according to the Bible, the spot where Jesus cast out the devils from two mad men into a herd of pigs.
Imo state Pilgrims will also visit Mount Nebo where Moses looked across to the promised land and later died and was buried.
According to reports, on March 20, 2000, Pope John Paul visited the site during his pilgrimage to the Holy land and planted an olive tree beside the Byzantine chapel as a symbol of peace.
The Imo State pilgrims will also have Nigeria lunch and church visit to mark the end of the pilgrimage in Jordan before moving over to Israel.
